{"id":1231,"date":"2013-03-23T12:39:06","date_gmt":"2013-03-23T16:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/simplelifecorp.com\/simplelifeblog\/?p=1231"},"modified":"2013-03-23T12:43:48","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T16:43:48","slug":"being-true-to-yourself-and-healing-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/simplelifecorp.com\/simplelifeblog\/2013\/03\/being-true-to-yourself-and-healing-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Healing the Black Holes of Your Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m reading &#8211; or perhaps I should say working through &#8211; the book <em>Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life by Carol Adreinne.\u00a0 (<\/em>As a side note, I have an extra copy of this book that I plan to give away on this site or on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/simplelifecorp\" target=\"_blank\">Simple Life Facebook page\u00a0<\/a> so do watch for that promotion. )\u00a0 This quote was the page header for one of the chapters:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/simplelifecorp.com\/simplelifeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ornate-golden-key.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1237\" style=\"margin: 8px;\" alt=\"Ornate golden key on a ribbon\" src=\"http:\/\/simplelifecorp.com\/simplelifeblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Ornate-golden-key-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>&#8220;If aspects of the person remain undigested &#8211; cut off, denied, projected, rejected, indulged, or otherwise unassimilated &#8211; they become the points around which the core forces of greed, hatred, and delusion attach themselves.\u00a0 They are black holes that absorb fear and create the defensive posture of the isolated self, unable to make satisfying contact with others or with the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mark Epstein, M.D., author of <em>Thoughts Without a Thinker: Psychotherapy from a Buddhist Perspective<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I wonder how much of our own needs and desires we deny?\u00a0 How much do we tolerate on a daily basis?\u00a0 Further, how many of us have been doing this for so long that we don&#8217;t even realize that we are living an auto-pilot life?\u00a0 Or worse, living a life based on fear and defensiveness.\u00a0 We run the risk of losing essential parts of our selves and blindly living a whitewashed life when we ignore our own vibrant characteristics.<\/p>\n<h2>Healing Your Life<\/h2>\n<p>What would we do or ask for if a magical fairy godmother appeared and said she would grant us a dozen small wishes that would allow us to be more authentic and to do the things that would allow us to &#8216;make satisfying contact with others in the world&#8217;?\u00a0 Have we worn our masks and locked away our core talents for so long that we would not even know what to ask for?\u00a0 Have we become so accustomed to &#8220;making do and making a living&#8221; that we don&#8217;t even know anymore which simple pleasures of our world would wake up our inner joy?<\/p>\n<p>What talent, quirk, trait, activity, or expression are you denying or that you have neglected so long that you forgot you even enjoyed it?
